  Joel A. Berley, DMD

  Oral Surgeon

  Dr. Joel Berley grew up on the Jersey shore, and as the son of a General Dentist, was interested in dentistry from a young age. From spending time at his father’s office, he learned the importance of going the extra mile for every patient to ensure they are treated with respect, honesty, and careful attention to detail. He received his BA from Rutgers University as a member of the General Honors Program. He then attended the Harvard School of Dental Medicine where he was exposed to world-class educators in a unique learning environment and was able to obtain a strong background in medicine as well as all aspects of dentistry. He continued on for his specialty training at the Albert Einstein School of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, NY. The oral and maxillofacial surgical residency at Montefiore is a very selective program renowned for its full scope of surgical and anesthesia training as well as a very heavy focus on implant dentistry and bone grafting. Dr. Berley’s special interest is in complex implant procedures for individual teeth replacement or full mouth reconstruction. He regularly performs these types of surgeries as well as the hard and soft tissue grafting procedures that are essential to ensuring optimal results. He has lectured on a variety of topics including implants, facial trauma, and oral pathology. His research has focused primarily on the effect of nicotine on implant success and he continues to read and attend lectures on implantology to ensure that he provides the highest level of care to every patient. It is the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to be living in South Florida pursuing his passion for practicing oral surgery. It is his privilege and pleasure to treat every patient with a gentle touch and care for them like they were family. For those with anxiety about surgery, he is happy to provide IV sedation or nitrous to make the experience as easy as possible. He is honored to have taken over for Dr. Mel Krohn who, for over 40 years, embodied this vision of delivering the highest level of care with a compassionate and gentle touch. When away from the office he enjoys playing guitar, recording music and videos, basketball, skiing, hiking, biking, sculpting, going to the beach, and spending time with his wife Lauren, his two daughters Kira and Ella, and his son Benjamin.

  Daniel Torres, DMD

  Dr. Torres has always had a calling to help others regardless of circumstance, but it wasn’t until high school where he volunteered at the Caridad Health Clinic in Boynton Beach Florida that he discovered his true passion — caring for patients. Since then it has been his lifelong dream to be able to provide the best possible healthcare to all patients he encounters with compassion and skill. After graduating with honors with a Bachelor’s of Science from the University of Miami, Dr. Torres went on to obtain his doctorate in dental medicine from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) where he graduated in the top 5% of his class. He was also recognized with the Chancellor’s Award for his commitment to leadership, humanity, and academic excellence. After excelling in his four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at NSU he spent an additional two years of studies and testing to obtain the prestigious status of diplomat on the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Throughout his career, education has never ceased as he continues to attend meetings regularly to stay at the cutting edge of the latest technologies and science trends, which allow him to provide the highest quality of care to his patients. Dr. Torres maintains hospital privileges at several facilities within the Memorial Healthcare System, which allows him to treat even the most surgically or medically complex patients. His special Interests focus on dental implants, bone grafting, complex dental extractions, and jaw reconstructive procedures. He has presented locally, nationally, and internationally and his research has been published in the International Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. To this day, Dr. Torres continues to volunteer at the Caridad Health Clinic and gives back to his local community through organizations like the Kiwanis Club. He also co-founded the Florida Senior Smiles Project, which provides much-needed care to low-income senior citizens in South Florida. When away from the office, his preferred pastime is spending time with his wife Erika and their two sons, Sebastian and Gabriel. He shares his favorite hobbies of fishing and camping with them and tries to instill values of compassion, integrity, and generosity.

  Daniel Berenstein, DDS

  Board Certified Oral Surgeon

  Dr. Berenstein was born in Dusseldorf, Germany; however, he considers South Florida home from an early age. After finishing high school locally, he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his dental degree from the University of Florida. As a Gator, he not only found his love for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery but also met his wife Jordan. Dr. Berenstein then completed his intern year of General Surgery and six-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the top-rated UCLA Ronald Reagan Hospital in Los Angeles. He maintains hospital privileges at several hospitals to be able to treat a wide range of complicated pathology, bone grafting/implants, trauma, and orthognathic surgery. His impressive training and caring personality make him a great fit for our practice, and he is so excited to get to meet and work with you. When not at work, he can be found spending time with his family, playing tennis, cycling, or cheering for the Miami Heat or Miami Dolphins.
